Comprised of twelve members of our congregation, the Board of Deacons works cooperatively with our ministers to ensure the spiritual health and vitality of our church. Deacons assist in the preparation and administration of the sacraments, act as minister-parishioner liaisons when necessary, recruit ushers, greeters and lay readers for our Sunday services; host our coffee hour each Sunday; and help provide pastoral care to members who are ill, bereaved, or otherwise in need of support.
To help organize and focus their responsibilities, the Deacons are assigned to particular families alphabetically. For example, one Deacon, is responsible for families whose last names begin with the letters "A" and "B." Deacons are nominated and elected by the congregation and serve three year terms (with the option to serve two consecutive terms if desired).
