Ladies' Tea, April 6th
WomenBuild Slide Show

The "web" image for our women’s organization was chosen to represent an interconnected network of support, friendship and service for every woman at the church at the center. All women in the Congregation are considered members, and we are a diverse blend of ages, talents and interests.

There is an informal group, nicknamed "Women Who Get Things Done," which plans various social activities, such as receptions following church events. For those who like to knit or crochet, we have the Prayer Shawl Ministry. The Women’s Web has a group that creates a beautiful quilt to be raffled off at the annual Church Fair every year. Our participation in the Church Fair includes the giant Tag Sale, which contributes significantly to the church budget. We also sponsor the apple pie booth and homemade soup sales – both of which are locally famous and eagerly anticipated by fair goers every year. For fund raising, we sell First Church of Christ Congregational aprons and our own cookbook, entitled Preheat Oven and Pray.

For mothers with younger children, we have launched the Kindness Klub which encourages children to think about the needs of the wider community. Examples of activities include creating gift boxes for hospitalized children and collecting food for Redding’s Community Food Pantry. By means of these actions, our children join the church’s larger outreach mission. Fun activities for our younger members have included a Mother/Dad/Child theatre outing.

The Women’s Web is a great way to get to know each other better and to become actively involved in the life of "The Church at the Center." Our goal is to provide fellowship and service opportunities that appeal to all.

We are always looking for new ideas, so please contact us!
